Don’t take our word for it. Our clients will tell you how they enjoy our services.

Ka nui te mihi, the support team have been supporting my son and daughter since the establishment of Mana Whaikaha -Tatou tatou have been supporting us as a whanau to celebrate their individuality in their day to day lives.
We have watched the kids grow, go on trips, keep to their daily routines as they want to. They are able to make mistakes with dignity and grow in their own different ways at their own pace.

Nau te rourou naku te rourou kia ora ai te whanau
With your basket and our basket the whanau will grow

I have and continue to have the privilege of working alongside Donna Stretch whilst utilising Tatou Tatou services, creating a healthy working relationship with its support workers, our sons support workers and a growing relationship with its clients, and Donnas immediate family. Donna works with integrity and operates with a Maori kaupapa and this aligns with ours. Our son has been supported extraordinarily well with accessing activities in our community and wider community – taking trips out of town with TT whanau by which he has learned new experiences. He is often recognised in our community because of his continued scheduled access to it, forging natural relationships. TT show a sensitivity and respect to our family’s journey of wellbeing and have gone out of their way to support our family and Porshe in times of need. Because of the trust we have in TT, we have the option to take necessary breaks without the concern of our sons’ safety and wellbeing. Our needs are made clear and obliged, often changing as our son continues to extend his abilities. Donna is open to participating with finding solutions when issues arise that are centred around our sons needs and often inclusive of the TT whanau.
He excitedly recognises all blue cars as one of his support workers car and some woman’s voices he calls out “hi Donna”. He also makes mention of another support worker often and is convicted in his view of the time he spends with her and a great friend he has made within the Tt whanau.
This is indicative of our son adding purpose and enjoyment to his life and wellbeing with supports from TT.

Evelyn’s Story

Last year I was living at home with my Mum and two brothers. I rarely left the house and when I did, I used a walker. I was being assessed for hip issues by my doctor and by a specialist at the hospital and I had several other health issues. I decided I wanted to go flatting with my brother, so I applied for Individualised Funding until Enabling Good Lives started. When enabling Good Lives started in October 2018, I applied for a personal budget with Tatou Tatou managing this for me. This meant I got to choose my support network, the where, what and how my days would be. I don’t use a walker now and I hardly ever need to visit the doctor.

I decided I would do the Foundation Course at UCOL and I graduated from this earlier this year. I now know that baking is my passion and I am going to do a course at UCOL with some support. My personal budget enables me to get a taxi to this course which is good because it starts at 6am and I don’t like walking that early especially when it is dark and cold.

I really enjoy flatting and doing lots of things in my community, I especially enjoy going on trips out of town with the Tatou Tatou network. My family are supportive of my new life and are part of my network. I think” Tatou Tatou are changing lives for the better”
